Charmix Transformation Review

Inspired by the amazing SibyllaJustice, I am going to write a review for all the Winx's transformations over the course of these almost 10 years. First up is, you guessed it, Charmix! Now, let's give you guys a little history on the transformation before I criticize it's very core!

In the first season, everyone is endowed their regular Winx/fairy form. This basic form usually consists of a sparkling and glittering cropped top and a sparkling, glittering miniskirt or mini-shorts. However, some Winx/fairy forms consist of sparkly dress or a full piece suit, which are clear examples of Flora and Tecna's Winx/fairy forms. Also, they usually, but not always, bear some sort of accessory on their arms such as wristbands, arm warmers or gloves. They also sometimes wear a matching hair ornament such as a tiara and their hair is occasionally tied while in this form. They also don boots or, most often, heeled shoes and sprout a pair of small, membranous, fluttering wings. It should be noted that Winx fairies cannot cover long distances and they are incapable of agile flight (see picture of the characters with their pixies). It is not the strongest and most powerful form, as it only allows a fairy to use basic spells and attacks; but in a special case like Bloom, she can unleash her Dragon Flame which happens to be very intense; as seen in the final battle between Bloom and Icy in the first season. ~Wikipedia

After Nick got hold of the Winx, they got rid of S2 Charmix and renamed Magic-Winx into this. They didn't change the outfits, but the new animation changed them slightly. Here is a picture that compares the two different animation styles.

Did I forget to add that the Winx got new transformations too?

Now, time for the delicious judgement!

Outfits

I chose to display Stella's Winx because, heck she is the most fashionable fairy out there! I have to go according to fairy on this one. As a whole though, I found Charmix amazing. It totally changed my viewpoint on how a traditional fairy looked like. Few things though. I am not one of those crazy people who criticize every nitty gritty detail, but I wonder why the outfits are so... What's the word? Skimpy! Not that I mind skimpy, I think the outfits look great. I just want to know why the stereotypical heroines outfit is so... sexy.

Stella: I absolutely love her outfit. It;s very flattering on he, very chic and fashion forward as you'd expect. The Go Go boots which I normally hate with passion actually work on her. And those pigtails. I love the pigtails.

Bloom: Now, Bloom's I don't really like. I dunno whether it's just me, but I think her outfit is too generic. Aside from the crown (which I've come to realize means she's royalty on the show) the outfit gives no indication on who she is, or what her powers are.

Flora: Flora's I love. Very nice and flowy. Not as awesomesauce as her Enchantix I'd say, but a passable effort. Her boots are kind of generic, they're practically Bloom's but pink. Her necklace is adorable, and her hairstyle, which remains the same, fits.

Musa: Musa's was nice, but not stunning. What I wanted from her outfit was something fierce, something exciting and bold like Tecna's outfit, that broke the mold. I didn't get that. What I got was a generic skirt, a cute top and armbands. The saving grace were those amazing boots. It was very so-so.

Tecna: Tecna was by far my favourite. It practically screamed at me who she was, what her powers meant, her personality. It was extremely interesting, and very fashion-forward, but for her. I admire Tecna being the different one, and that really shone through her outfit. (Plus, I have a soft spot for one pieces)

Aisha: Aisha Aisha Aisha, what will I do with you?! You really looked amazing this time round. Her outfit resembled Musa's a bit, but really flashed her colours in our faces. Loving the green.

Transformation

Ah, the transformation. My favourite part actually. These transformations really express who the fairy is, and what their powers are. Time for judgement! BWHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bloom-Original: Nice... Can't say it was my favourite though. The beginning was promising, but then it just... I dunno... Became general.

Bloom-Nick: Colourful, bright and powerful. One of my favourites. It was very creative, and of course incorporated the all important Dragon. The only thing was... I dunno. something about it just didn't suit Bloom to the max.

Stella-Original: Nice, exciting, and cute. I really like the colours employed, but the background could've looked better.

Stella-Nick: Amazing! Colourful, exciting, and a great take on Stella's original performance. It has the same kind of background as Bloom's though, so it takes away from originality.

Musa-Original: Really showed off her power, and her style of music I guess. I wasn't so fond of of the background though. The walking on the CD was pretty neat too.

Musa-Nick: I loved the background, the colours were, as all the Nick ones, very bright. The way she began her transformation was awkward... I just didn't like that pose. Too... How you say? Awkward?

Aisha-Original: Um, I don't know. It was kind of short, but she did do some dance thing in the beginning, right?

Aisha-Nick: Three words. It. Was. Botched. I hate the awkward pose where her hair was all weird and she was shaking her hips (see picture above)

Tecna-Original: Sweet, simple, and very Tecna. I loved the little punching thing she did before crossing her arms and transforming.

Tecna-Nick: Really nice! The background was as stunning as ever, and her movements were very smooth. The graphics were nice, and the little flip she did at the end was impressive.

Flora-Original: Sweet, simple, and full of nature! Very cute and perfect for Flora's character. A little goof, though. At the end of her transformation, Flora doesn't get her wings! You can check it out here.

Power
Now this one, I have to generalise. For me, Winx isn't a transformation that would do you any good in the battlefield. As it is said in the Wikipedia definition, it is the basic transformation, it won't get you anywhere against real Villains ie: V/Baltor, Tritannus, etc.

Over all
As a whole - 6.5/10

Bloom - 5/10

Stella - 8/10

Tecna - 9/10

Flora - 7/10

Aisha - 6/10

Roxy doesn't count, as you've seen I haven't included her. I am a firm believer she is a Winx fairy, but according to a poll by the Winx official website, she is in her Believix. I will include her in my Believix review.

If, however she is a Winx fairy, then I will give her a quick review.

Roxy: Outfit - Wings are breathtaking, rest of the outfit though is too generic, like Bloom's.
Transformation- A little too short, but the whole flying on butterflies was pretty cool.

Roxy - 7/10

(Please keep in mind that this is a review with the idea that Roxy is a Winx fairy. If she is a Belivix fairy, my entire outlook on the transformation will change)

Thanks for reading! What's your opinion? Do you like Magic Winx Charmix, or do you think it's a waste of time and energy caring about?

Ciao,

Awesomesauce
